Weekly Preview 1/5

6’s:  This week we will continue learning about fractions, decimals, and percents. We are working on converting one to another. We will review lessons 4-5, 4-6, and 4-7. We also will start talking about and exploring rational numbers (lesson 4-9).

7’s: This week we will start chapter 4 “Proportions and Similarity”. We will cover lessons 4-1, 4-2, and 4-3 which cover ratios, rates, proportional and nonpropotional relationships, along with rate of change.

8-R: This week we will have our chapter 4 test on Wednesday 1/21. The test will cover lessons 4-1, 4-2, 4-3, and 4-4 which all focus on SLOPE. We will introduce point-slope form (lesson 4-5) at the end of the week.

8-A: This week we will have our chapter 4 test on Tuesday 1/6. The test will cover ALL of chapter 4 (lessons 4-1 through 4-7). We will begin chapter 5 “Solving Systems of Linear Equations” at the end of the week.

*There will be two review sessions this week for those eighth graders who are interested in preparing for the ETHS algebra exam at the end of the month. We will meet during study hall on Tuesday and Thursday.

Welcome back everyone! One of my new year’s resolutions was to post more on my blog so I thought I might start with “Weekly Previews”. These will be posted every Sunday night and will give a quick preview for the week ahead. Hopefully, they will help everyone stay organized and informed:)

Sixth Grade Update

The sixth graders are learning all about factors and multiples. We just finished solving a really cool problem about “open and closed lockers”. Everyone created a poster to share their thoughts and ideas. Check out the cool posters below!
